Elysia's Engagement

The engagement ring has arrived! It is official now. Elysia and Scott are engaged. And yes, that is Scott in his new uniform! Doesn't he look handsome?
(To Scott's ex-flames...sorry, but he's spoken for.)

Elysia sure spends a lot of time writing letters and looking at old photographs of Scott. She sure misses him. And so do his parents.

Scott and a boot camp buddy in basic training. Those aren't toy guns Ma! Your baby has become a man. While Elysia makes wedding preparations Scott keeps busy working his way through boot camp and basic training. Elysia is going to be a military wife, like her Mom! (I don't know whether to laugh or cry)

29 March 2001 - Now starts the major project of beading the lace for Elysia's wedding dress. This will be a family project by the women in the Regala and Snyder family. The lace is needed right after Easter, and Mom has a major Calculus test coming up!

31 March 2001- Here is Scott's wedding band! It is white gold, (although it looks yellow in the picture), with three diamonds going diagonally across the width of the ring, (doesn't that represent "I" "Love" "You"?). Here is the completed veil, with the beading on the comb piece. And, those snacks, they are part of Scott's next care package from home...hope you enjoy the food Scott!

Scott's Grandmother and Elysia are looking at the bride's maids' dresses which just came in. The colors for the wedding will be white, and dark blue. The bridesmaids dresses are in a similar two-piece style as Elysia's wedding dress. On the table in the background you can just make out the veil, trimmed with a white beaded satin ribbon.

06 April 2001 - Elysia tries out a hair style for her wedding day:

...and as the wedding day approaches the stress is clearly visible on Elysia's face..

One week before the wedding! After tears of frustration, (and joy), from the bride, groom's mother and bride's mother during some fittings the dress is finished!

Elysia and her dressmaker. The veil Mom made is held by the dressmaker, and Elysia holds her wedding dress, showing details of the skirt with the hand beading on the lace. The wedding dress is a two piece outfit, with the skirt slung low on the hips, and her top reaching her waist with a wide pearl detail along a sleeveless, low neckline, and a faux lace up bodice on the back. Thin satin double straps support the top and is used to lace up the back. Elysia designed the dress herself, and the skirt's lace pattern came from a picture in a magazine that Elysia saw.

End of May 2001 - Elysia booked the best room in town, The Jacuzzi Suit at the Holiday Inn in Silver Springs, for her Wedding Night before heading off to the Grand Floridian in Disney World on their honeymoon. Of course, we just had to go check it out.

Here is the map. The lower address is the church, and the upper address, a few blocks away but in a different city, (what gives?) is the Dance hall where the reception will be held.
